A special treat in album sleeve design is a solution where one picture is spread over more sleeves. There are not many of these combined sets, but i found some interesting ones. The Brigitte Bardot lookalike on the 3X1+SEX series is a nice example which was done in South America as well. Anyone who offers me the missing two sleeves? The Rock ‘n’ Roll series on the Joy Special label is in similar vein and offers us a teddyboy and a beatgirl. Riverside Records in the USA had two ladies as well spread over three sleeves, both laying on a bed or sofa. One was featured in the great book about record collecting Dust And Grooves, a couple of years ago. Two other examples comes from Roulette in combination with Globe Records and Louie The Cabdriver Carter was used twice with the same cab, but a different shot on both. Capitol had probably one of the greatest ‘puzzle records’ with their Disc Jockey Albums in a series of 12, each for every month of the year. In december 1969 the picture was completed. This series was mostly for DJ’s, record promotion people and magazines and became expensive collectors items nowadays. More recent is The Beatles Anthology, which had a giant art print spread over the three volumes.
